The warm September air
blew waves of dark brown hair
across her face
and I couldn't help but notice
from across the deck
I was trying hard
not to stare but
she was the most beautiful girl
that I had ever seen
and she was lookin' at me
and I could not believe it
when our eyes met by the margarita machine
and she smiled at me
and I refilled my drink
and said "hello"
and we talked all night
while the party passed us by
and I worked up my nerve
but by the time we said goodnight
I hadn't made my move
and I was scared, I was gonna lose her
but I had one last trick up my sleeve
I chased her out to the street
said "girl you forgot your lighter, and can I have your number please?"
well she was the most beautiful girl
that I had ever seen
and now she's lovin' me
and my heart is hers to keep
